Made in Slovakia

My dad gave me a hockey puck this morning. It says, "Official. Made in Slovakia". My question was this: Are all official ECHL pucks made in Slovakia? (Yes, they are.) I looked it up. Check out what I found in my search. HA!

"Slovakia, as everyone knows, is an Eastern European country once
belonging to Canada which has had some pretty awesome hockey teams. So
our 'neighbors to the north' occupied this once free and peaceful
nation and forced the Slovaks to fashion pucks for them."
My next question is how on earth did Canada get possession of Slovakia??

Canada was discovered after the middle ages were over. Slovakia has been around since before anyone has kept records. They possibly predate the Greeks... In the 1200s AD (long before Canada), the Ottoman Turks held Slovakia, after breaking away from the Ottomans (in 1768, while Canada is still heavily under British rule), the Slovaks in turn allied with the Hungarians, Austrians, and Czechs. Czechoslovakia was formed in 1918 and stuck around January 1, 1993.
If Canada stepped into the eastern europe scene since 1993 and controlled Slovakia, then I haven't heard of it and I congratulate this random idiot blogger for knowing more than the rest of the world. Please don't be idiots when you publish things.

My brother just showed me another prime example of an idiot publishing his thoughts on
the internet. Look at these sites and whoever can find 100 logical fallacies first wins! http://www.viewzone.com/philadelphia.html, and http://www.rense.com/

My word... I think I need to go fill my mind with REAL knowledge now. This morning's research was definitely... nutso. I think maybe tortillas will help too. Mmmm, with cheese.

Ok, enough about crazies, let's talk about sports. I hear BYU's football team won last Saturday. I also hear that BSU is still doing awesome. Go Blue! Both of them. The Idaho Steelheads (unfortunately the closest team Idaho has ever had to the NHL) has a record of 5-2-0. I'm going to see them play the Everblades this Friday. It's going to be fun. I haven't seen a hockey game since I left Provo... Good times, good times. I miss hockey. I miss Canada.

Well, it's definitely lunchtime, then I have some other things to do that will take most of the day. Please write to me if you have any questions, or if you feel like writing to me. Goodbye.

Cant find PERL from Pavilion

I need to do lots of things before I leave. Here is a list I have made.

-Buy new shoes?
-Pack.
-Get first aid kit.
-Choose classes for BYU.
-Sign papers allowing my parents to file for a tax return.
-Return library books.
-Mail some letters that I already wrote.
-Plan details for family party in Idaho, and party in Utah.
-Get Slurpees with Julie.
-Activate check card.
-Remember my appointment with the CDHD.
-Remember my appointment with Stake Pres.
-Write talk for church.
-Give Andy the necessary passwords to access my email, blogspot, etc.
-Put all my clothing in boxes in the garage.

This should be a fun week. It's only a week. Ha! Only one more
week! So happy!

A kid in Oregon got botulism from a home-canned deer stew. Within
minutes, he was stumbling around, he was drooling and couldn't open
his eyes. That is so freaky. Only four people in Oregon have gotten
botulism since 1993, so the doctors didn't diagnose him correctly
until his SECOND visit to the hospital. I guess it's some kind of
nerve toxin, so he'll be in the intensive care unit for at least
several months. I'm so glad it wasn't me...

Here is your picture of the day:

It's a picture of a whale that exploded in Taiwan. It was being
transported somewhere to be studied, but its gastric gases had built
up to an intensity that the whale's skin couldn't handle... My
favorite part is the guy looking at the moped! I bet it stank
somethin fierce.

Get in line, son. There's five million waiting. I can't understand
why you let someone else rule your land.

Many of you have asked, and I have been lazy in telling, I am speaking
in church next Sunday. 11:00 am, the church is on Mitchell just north
of McMillan. I hope to see some of you there, but don't feel
pressured to come. There are probably better times to hang out, just
call or email me and we'll do some chillin.

And again, if you missed the previous message about my mailing
address, it can be found on http://briansmission.blogspot.com I will
have my brother update this for me whenever I write home, so you can
all check it out once in a while to see how I'm doing.

Just one more thing before I go, happy Dunce Day.

Frantic Calculus

This is a test, this is only a test. A calculus test. Mwahaha! Take
THAT, punks!

I just got absolutely crushed by my brother at Age of Empires II. We
started with one ally each, but they both turned on us and teamed up
with each other. so we killed them, and then when it was only the two
of us left, we had a huge battle right in the middle. We had about
the same number of troops, but his were long ranged and he had a
castle nearby. Needless to say, I got trounced. So I ran away and
started a new Town Center in my enemy's now forsaken lands. We had a
few more smaller battles, and then I again retreated into the other
enemy's land. I mostly was trying to find more resources and a
war-free zone where I could gather enough stone to build more castles
to keep him out, but it didn't work. I kept building things that he
destroyed just a few minutes afterward. It was pathetic. I finally
lost when my last villager stumbled into his conquistadors. He
doubled my final score, and quadrupled my kills, but I had more than
twice his number of castles, and my society score was way higher. Fun
stuff, Congrats, Andy.

Today is Gunpowder Day, and also Guy Fawkes Day. If you know why I
think that combo is amusing, you win a gold star AND two brownie
points. Tomorrow, I probably won't be writing an email, so I'll let
you know in advance... tomorrow is Andy's birthday. Happy birthday
Andy!

For those of you who are interested in, or know anything about the
Bayeaux Tapestry, and for those of you who like to write stories by
means of pictures: http://www.adgame-wonderland.de/type/bayeux.php

Have fun with that link. I think it is a very clever idea. My sister
sent me the link, thanks a lot!

Also, check this one out: http://www.alltooflat.com/geeky/elgoog/
It's pretty trippy.

I had a piece of sourdough toast and half a fried egg, and roughly 1.5
scrambled eggs for breakfast. I have not yet had lunch. I have also
not yet had dinner. I plan on having both before the day is through.
Mmm. Lunch and dinner!

Eleven more days is all. Have a great day!

Aurens, Aurens!

Here we are again, another day. It is about 8:00 now. Hopefully some
of you will read this tonight, so that some of the information will be
relevant. Today is Sandwich Day and Housewives' Day. Tomorrow is
King Tut Day. I learned some things about King Tut today. But not
very interesting or even important things. Meh.

I think everyone should listen to classical vocal music. Tchaikovsky
has some good anthems, and there are so many good German songs too,
particularly from the 15-1600s. Any library carries this kind of
thing, and if you decide you want to buy some, I recommend
Chanticleer. They never put out anything thats less than perfect- you
can count on them for quality. They are a bit pricey though.

Well, I just got royally sidetracked. It looks like it's now past 9:00... oops!

Good night folks, sorry I'm a slacker.

Orange Crush

Go Vote! If you aren't registered where you now live, and you didn't
get an absentee ballot, I am very disappointed in you. I don't even
care who you vote for, as long as you get your ballot in. That's the
important thing. If you're not old enough to vote, then that's a
different problem and I forgive you.

I will be back in a while...

Ok, I'm back, I had to GO VOTE. So yah. Today is Look For Circles
Day and Deviled Eggs Day. Tomorrow is National Housewives' Day and
Sandwich Day. Mmmm! The best sandwich I have EVER had is made from:

toasted white bread, miracle whip, Italian salad dressing, Tillamook
medium cheddar, provolone cheese, parmesan cheese, bacon bits, fresh
crisp lettuce, two slices of tomato, and a slice of any thin sliced
lunchmeat.

Try it, you'll probably like it. Feel free to change it around, but
don't defile it with pickles or mustard. Those are good, but not on
this sandwich. It's time for me to go shopping. My mom wants to pay
for a new pair of shoes for me, and also some ties and belts and
things. So I'm leaving now. Sorry this was short. If you want to
hear from me, try emailing me. It works.

No. 85

Hello everyone! Did any of you lose a pair of shoes at my house the
other night? I found some in my orange room. They are size 9 and I
don't recognize them. Speak now or forever hold your peace and
prepare to witness what happens to shoes in the microwave.

Today is World Vegetation Day and All Saints' Day. Tomorrow is Look
For Circles Day and Deviled Egg Day. Both could be wonderful!
Looking for circles is supposedly one of those things that keeps your
mind feeling young and fresh. If you plan to raise your children in a
high creativity environment, Feng Shui experts suggest filling your
home with 1) metal, 2) round things, and 3) the color White. This is
an exerpt from an article:

"Look for circles and balls, such as a white metal clock sitting next
to the brass bell on the round, mosaic, handmade table with metal legs
in the artist's studio. See how things suddenly start to have
meaning?"

There you have it. Look for circles... I guess. And Deviled Eggs are easy.

Today's email is a little unusual. It is number 85, thus, only 15
short of 100. I am 15 days short of The MTC. I doubt I'll hit 100.
I shouldn't have slacked so much back in the day. Like last month.
That was rather embarrassing.

Did you know that ye olde Greek heroes would dye their hair red before
battle? The Romans just darkened their hair. Intriguing. One study
says that nearly 50% of all American women color their hair. Here is
what I found from www.soyouwanna.com

"If you are a brunette and want to go blonde, get thee to a salon.
Even if your hair doesn't appear to have any red tones in it, all dark
hair contains some red pigment. Therefore, lightening your hair in one
step will most likely turn your hair an unattractive shade of orange
that hasn't been popular since the days of Queen Elizabeth I."

I really like www.soyouwanna.com It is one of the single most useful
websites if you are entirely clueless about something but want to give
it a shot anyway. And that duck is so cool!

So, I haven't written anything for about an hour. I started reading
about things, and I think it would be really interesting to be in the
publishing industry. Literary agents make quite a large cut of the
whole deal, about 15%. Maybe I would prefer to edit, although, I
think that would get rather tedious. I wouldn't mind looking into the
actual physical printing either. I have been trying to explore
different paths that I have never considered before. Law is kind of
starting to sound appealing, but I don't know if I would do well in
it.

Whoa! I just got distracted again. I was playing around with new
Google Beta programs. You know, the kind they haven't really
officially released yet. I really like some of the features, but they
need a money converter. That would rock. And I have to go now, have
a good day!

Brian

The last day

Well it's now the 31st of October, and we all know what THAT means!
It's Nevada Day! Happy birthday-ish Kim and others!

Today is also Icrease Your Psychic Powers Day. I would recommend
cheap card tricks for starters, then you can gradually work your way
up to palm reading and horoscopes. Astrology is pretty tough, if
you're not trained well, you'll only hurt yourself.

Tomorrow is All Saints' Day (no surprise here, right?) and World
Vegetation Day. I think there are many notable plants in the world.
Look some up.

"The human race is faced with a cruel choice: work or daytime television."
-Anonymous

The good news is that today, I have the option to watch daytime
television. Of course, I won't. But now I have the option. I think
I'll read "Pyramids" and then I'll be ready to pack my boxes into
boxes to go in the garage until I come back to claim them. I have
heard good things about "Pyramids", I hope it's better than "Small
Gods". That was a good one, actually very good, but I think Pratchett
can do better than that. If he kept writing on the "Good Omens"
level, I would be thrilled for life.

Voltaire got a vote!

I think I'm going to keep this message short. It seems more people
read the short ones all the way through. So, in closing, I would like
to invite you all to listen to REM today. I seriously LOVE that band.
Most of their songs are pretty popular, especially now that they're
so old. If you don't think you have heard anything by REM, I think
and hope that you're wrong. Also, I would like you all to listen to
Keane. Oh, man! Thanks again, Kim!

I will see you all later, probably. Peace!
